Default Storm 2/DX-1 Battery Replacement Question

Hey All,

Been searching for an answer to this question and only found one similar thread regarding the D-X1 here but my question is slightly different.

I've been having battery issues with my Storm2 for awhile now and rather than ditch the phone (I do really like my BB, but am ready to switch to another device if it comes to that) I'd try investing in a replacement battery. I ordered it from BlackberrySource.com which seems to receive high reseller ratings, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The new D-X1 seems identical to the out-of-the-box battery that came with my Storm2, with one exception: the water damage indicator on the new battery has a red stripe through it. On the original battery, it is just a pure white box.

In searching through threads, it seems as though a red line is okay, but if the sticker has pink bleeding it indicates water damage. I ordered the battery as "OEM new" and though it didn't come in retailer packaging (much to my chagrin), it seems to be otherwise fine.

Just wanted to check with you knowledgeable folks and see if I should be concerned about the water damage sticker and the red stripe versus the original battery's pure white box.

Many thanks!

Red face

The red stripe is normal. If it gets wet, the red bleeds into the white patch. Ambient humidty trips also the rep stripe on the batteries.

Many thanks! The new battery is performing like a champ actually, so I'm very happy with the purchase. Your response gives me some peace of mind, as I was a bit hesitant to try it until I knew for sure it wasn't a damaged/knock off battery.

2xJ,
What was the price of the battery?
Just curious.
TIA

I believe it was around $20-25 USD, I will have to dig out my receipt and check.

Also, FWIW, the battery is still working great. Getting excellent battery life now, and no crashes/restarts with a dead battery.

Tks for the info 2xJ.
Please don't feel you need to look up the receipt.
"around $20-$25" is good enough for me.
Good Luck

That's where I got my backup battery from. It's not OEM, but it works great and it's cheap.
