Something strange happened, and now my stubborn button issue is mysteriously gone...
I've had pretty consistent issues with the bottom 4 buttons on my Storm 2. This is my 3rd new unit, and 2 of the 3 have had issues, whether laying on a table, or using it in my hand. The SEND button is particularly troublesome - it only worked on the first try maybe 25% of the time, and when it would work, there was a lot of "resistance". I know a lot of users here have had similar problems.
Frustrated, I decided to use it for a while to see if, hopefully, the buttons would somehow work themselves in. Even if I'm not making calls, I'll sometimes "exercise" the SEND button to try to work it in a bit. I've had the current unit for about a week and, while using it last night, something very strange happened. I pressed the SEND button, and the usual resistance gave way to a bit of a slight crunching sound(!) - it almost felt like crushing a grain of sand or tiny shard of glass between two hard surfaces.
I can't explain why, but right after that happened, my button problems seem to have completely disappeared! Even lying on a flat surface, the buttons now work great. I've been using it for about a full 24 hours now, and I've not had one missed click (and I've been trying hard to get it to fail again, believe me).
Like I said, I can't explain it, and I don't really know enough about the construction of the screen assembly to speculate why or what might have happened.
Any theories?
