Default Seesmic Twitter Client for BlackBerry - Not Happy

So I thought I would try a new Twitter client (I currently use UberTwitter) and found out Seesmic has recently released a beta for BlackBerry.

Why would I want to move away from UberTwitter? It comes down to photo sharing support. Uber doesn't support TweetPic. They do support TweetPhoto. Between those two services, I'd prefer TweetPic.

Visiting the Seesmic sit, I learned that the version for Storm units is in alpha. I downloaded it anyway thinking that I'll at least check out the UI and post a tweet or two just to see how it performs the most basic of tasks.

Well, think again! Not only could I NOT create a new tweet, I could not reply, DM or just about anything with the Seesmic client.

I uninstalled the application and will not even think about loading it again until the good folks over at Seesmic have a version available that provides more than just a "hey look at all of these tweets" functionality.

Man you're SOO right. They should at least call this an Alpha release or something if it doesn't have full functionality yet... oh wait...........................

It'd be more productive if you sent feedback to them on their site instead of bashing an Alpha release for not having all the bells and whistles.

Agreed. I d/l'd it too to check it out, but I'm back to TG now. Counting on an alpha release to be more than marginally functional isn't a great plan, IMO. I actually think it's great that they have an open alpha/beta/release program. Gives the developer lots of opportunity to improve from alpha->beta->release. It's also a good sign because it probably means the developer is going to be conscientious about keeping the final product up to speed. I'll look forward to seeing the finished product.

Agreed, and I already did provide feedback to Seesmic. In the meantime, I want to make it clear that I was aware of the fact that I was installing an alpha release and with that I expected minimal functionality at best. What I did expect from this release (alpha or not) was the ability to at least create a tweet. Certainly this is a reasonable expectation?
