THEN WHY IS RIM BUYING TORCHMOBILE? WHY HAS RIM DONE RESEARCH TO FIND OUT WHAT PEOPLE DISLIKE ABOUT THEIR PRODUCT?

Why is every article published about RIM falling behind about the Browser ??

Hmmm?

Stop - stay on the porch while the Big Dogs are running ....
Actually, companies (not just RIM) do research and read many reviews about their product and what people dislike about it to simply make it better, its how companies make their product better and release updates for them...

For me, I am a consumer looking to buy a smartphone on Verizon. RIM would consider me BIS at this point since most email work is done on PC, some personal work not as BES. I have different questions than BigMike99. Maybe I should have put my two questions in a different thread, but could I get a couple honest thoughts. I'm not an iphone or BB fanboy as I have had neither. I will not be getting an iphone, I just want suggestions to which phone would work best. Mostly I've been getting info on Crackberry.com versus other sites because most people are helpful instead of rant.

Q.#1: Again as my earlier post asked, does anyone know when the BB webkit browser will be coming out exactly, I know next summer sometime, just wondering if I have to wait around eight months or way longer. Wondering also why it will take until next summer & not a lot sooner?

Q.#2: Again, does anyone have any suggestions/thoughts if Storm2 or Droid or other phone that I haven't thought of yet fit most of my general use great smartphone criteria (lol, I know this is a S2 site, but I figure that this would be a great place to ask since I am seriously thinking about the s2 (I passed on the Tour to wait for S2).
- I don't really text much, but will be typing in word, some email, notes, copy/paste, general stuff.
- Like I said I want full HTML not mobile (had mobile & hated it, my friend has BBCurve & their mobile browser doesn't give me anything I need, again why have a browser when it doesn't work & wastes so much time. Mobile & HTML are definitely not the same because for me I don't memorize sites to know exactly where to drill, hate drilling, need regular internet for everything from GPS, maps, looking up anything while on the road, weather, crackberry, general surfing for anything). For me paying this amount of data $$ I expect a great web & plan on using WEB a lot. I can't believe that the posters who are so against a full HTML wouldn't love it, I know from reading many posts on many forums here that most people would prefer it. Some posters like Tallyho seem to think that there are only one type of customer who buys BB phones & those are business only. If that is the case, that's fine, I'll look into other phones. I wonder if RIM is of this same thought pattern. I was guessing that with the S2 they were going after both bus/consumer. Again who wants to carry two phones for different purposes? The point is to have both in one smartphone.
- Also better zoom on web, again if one can't read it what good is it. For example the tour could only zoom twice which isn't enough & slow to use.
- The video Kevin posted that I put a link to earlier is very informative of what's missing & differences, but also says these should be able to be fixed eventually, but how long? ( for example in this video, it showed that camera mega pixels, video recording & playback, memory, screen resolution etc. could be better or should we wait until S3 to get these things)
- not interested in gaming, but will use camera, videos, music, multitasking, multiple batteries, want more memory, storage, enough RAM, flash, etc. Yes I'm asking for the world, but shouldn't we all get it & no I don't want to just have a phone to do only email-boring (multipurpose is where smartphones are headed).
- Already know about BB push email, WI-FI & other S2 upgrades from other forums here.
- Just want a general well rounded phone/smartphone, so S2, Droid, or other or wait for future & get cheap dumbphone now.
Another poster Ryan gave me some good info earlier and thanks to any others with good ideas.

Sal, you should just tell him to go buy the S2 for himself and compare it to the iPhone.

Sal,

You mention the virtual keyboard of the iPhone as giving you trouble when your work started requiring heavy use of your phone. Is the S2's virtual keyboard that much better to warrant using it over your tour? How does typing on the S2 compare to the iPhone?
