Here is a way to do it without using 3rd part apps… seems to put it back to how it was before BIS 3.0

Go into email setup and delete your gmail address, once it is gone still in the email settings…

Click on add and choose other (not gmail)

Type in an email address anything@anything.com
And type in any password

Click next
Itll warn you that the data you entered was not correct
But after that it will let you input your own settings, in this screen you can change the email address to x@gmail.com
Supply your password
Server is imap.gmail.com
Username is x@gmail.com (full thing with @gmail.com)

Once this is done it will have added your email account but not added it using the advanced gmail plugin and as such it will act and feel like it has up to now.

Still no 2 way read sync, but at least when you archive using the web, it will update the blackberry inbox too.

Hope this helps

Btw – really annoyed with RIM for this stupid update – love the functionality of being to label and search from the phone, but not syncing the archives you do online, so pathetic.

Using BBSAK, find and delete this files:
Net_rim_bb_gmail.cod
Net_rim_bb_gmail_resource_en.cod
Net_rim_bb_gmail_w_help_en.cod

I have to also say this dead simple yet ingenious method got my email working the way it used to. I'd rather have limited syncing abilities versus other problems. Thanks!

Default This is truly the way to remove the Enhanced Gmail plug-in

This absolutely worked for me on my BlackBerry tour.

quoted text from the Google Mobile Help Forum:
"I had the same problem. When I upgraded mu OS on my Blackberry 8900 to 5.0.0.822 the Enhanced Gmail Plugin was installed automatically and I did not like it. I tried to uninstall it from the applications section on the BB but the application did not appear. What I did was, I downloaded the plugin fron this site "http://blackberry.com/gmail" and installed the plugin on my phone. Then, I went back to Settings>Options>Applications. From the dropdown menu I selected Add-on and the Enhanced Gmail Plug-in showed up. I selected it and press the delete button. When the phone rebooted on it's own it didn't start so I had to pull the battery out and... THE PLUG-IN WAS REMOVED!!!!!"

Even though it's already installed, I went ahead to the following blackberry download link: Enhanced Gmail Plug-in for BlackBerry Smartphones for which the url is "http://blackberry.com/gmail" with no "www." at the beginning and installed the plug-in again. The install process required a reboot, then I went to options>applications>add-on. Next highlight the "enhanced gmail plug-in" in the list, then press the "menu" blackberry key and select DELETE. The phone will ask to reboot. After the reboot it will be gone.

I think the desktop software allows you to remove it.
