Problems with the updates
I installed the desktop software for the BB, backed up my files and entered this website BlackBerry - Storm Updates – BlackBerry Storm Software Upgrade.
Then I clicked the update button and then this message appeared "Application Loader was unable to connect with your device. Restart the loading process, reconnect your device and try again"

Make sure your phone is turned on, and reboot your computer with it plugged in; then try the update again. See if that helps and go from there.
