Default Phone has locked itself, trying to keep phone from being wiped!!!!!

My phone (Storm 2) has locked itself apparently with a password different from the one I've provided. I do not have a clue as of how this could have happened. I am now down to my final (10th) try and I am desperately trying to avoid my phone from being completely wiped. Was unable to back any of my recent data onto computer. Verizon has been no help!! Please can someone please tell if there is any way I can avoid this?!??!

Sad to say, but no. What good would a password protected device be if there was a work around. Even though its not what you want, I would say the BlackBerry is keeping up to its part of being "secure." Sorry. =(

Unfortunately for your situation, pmanchin is dead-on. Blackberrys are known for security, and that's exactly what you're experiencing.

The only thing you can do is wipe it, and then restore your latest backup and work from there. Sorry

The reason for this is obvious. It is to prevent someone from "finding" your phone, and accessing your data. The Blackberry is doing it's job. If this is truly your phone, then you should have made regular backups, in which case you can restore your data. If you need help with restoring backed up data, search the forums, there is a wealth of information here.

Motown_Lady1, I'm sorry your phone is locked and you’re having trouble unlocking it. I know how frustrating this can be. I once had a Blackberry also and the security of the phone is very important to the manufacture.

You can try some potential default lock codes or the last four digits of your mobile number. If you’re on your tenth try, you risk wiping the phone if the number you choose to try is incorrect. Some potential unlock codes are below:
--1234
--0000
--1111
--9999

You can also try removing the battery for 1-2 minutes to soft reset the phone. If the lock code has been personalized the default codes will not work. You can try updating the roaming on the phone by dialing *228, send and select option 1. This should reset the lock code to the last four digits of the 10-digit mobile phone number. If this is unsuccessful, you will need to visit a Verizon wireless corporate store to have the phone flashed, which will reset the phone back to default settings.
