Default password disable locked

I want to disable the password protection on my storm 2 9550. The icon says enabled and has a lock icon on it. Any ideas?

Do disable the password, go to Options> Password> and change "Enable" to "Disable".

Problem solved. Unless you are connected to BES, then I do believe you cannot disable the password. Its a security feature to keep the BES secure and to make sure you aren't in violation of the NDA you signed at some point in your employment.

That's weird. I just have BIS and I always use a lock but I wanted to take my password off not long ago but couldn't. I am getting the same little lock icon next to the enable button, preventing me from disabling the lock feature. How would I do it then if I wanted to now?

I liked my pearl mute button which served as a stand by button..I hate hitting that lock button on the storm and having to enter a password 50 times a day...wish there was a way to put the phone in standby without locking it....

Default How to Disable your password

I found this information on one of the other fifty or so threads on this topic and thought I would share the wealth.

Go to: Options/Memory. Turn off Memory card support.
Save.
Exit back to Options.
Go to Password.
The tab should now be selectable to disable the password.
Click disable.
Save.
Exit back to Options.
Click on Memory.
Select Memory card support "on".
Save.
You will now be prompted to enter the password for the final time in your life!
Exit back to the main screen and try it out, lock unlock, no password!!!

Have a beer.

That works - also it's mainly because of encryption on the device under security options. Turning that off will also enable the password lock on the password menu.

Yea i have the exact same problem, i tried both of the ways above but im seeing on any ENABLED field it has a little yellow lock next to it and when not clicking on that box, it turns to a offset light gray unlike the other dark gray option boxs in which you can change things..
and none of those options have a disabled, only full menu, save, etc.. So if anyone can please help us out, its so frustrating to have to enter a 7 diget pass everytime i unlock the phone, so PLEASE!!!! thanks alot!!

Also how can u tell if ur on a enterprise or BES phone? i bought mine from someone so idk , PLEASE HELP THANKS

Did you got to Options > Security > Encryption and then disable it?

If you do that, you should then be able to disable the password.

And just to double-check, you're not on a BES are you? If this is a company phone, than you may not be able to disable the password at all. If you are, are you required to have a 7-digit password? 4-digits is the minimum as far as the BB is concerned.

Did you buy the phone brand new from Verizon, or from some other source, like eBay?

Ok..Stop yelling, I was just trying to get a little more background information to help you. I'm not sure if there is a way to check in the phone itself, though someone else here may be able to tell you if there is. Your best bet would probably be to contact the person you bought it from and ask them. It certainly sounds like the phone was set up on a BES and probably still has an IT policy active on it. Try a search here for "Removing an IT Policy" That should provide some additional information for you.
