Default In order to be successful, Storm 2 will need the following (contribute to the list):

From observations, I can see that in order for the Storm "2" to be successful it's going to need a few major upgrades.

More Memory: 256 isn't going to cut it. We have people murdering their current Storms memory with apps. I don't believe 256 will be enough, but it may be what's going to be on it.

App Storage: 1 GB sounds good, but it actually isn't. The apps are relatively small, but we already see people filling their Storms to the brim. 8 GB should be the minimum. Even then, it should be more than 8.

CPU/Chipset Architecture: They are going to need a package that can deliver the performance needed for all the processes. We get crazy typing lag because we have the processor doing the workload with the rendering included. This brings me to the next part.

Higher Graphical Capabilities: What's the point of having a capable graphic system if you're not going to use it? Offload the rendering to the GPU; free up some processing cycles.

O/S Worth Bragging About: Give us, the consumer, something to shove down those iPhone loving, ranting throats. While I believe the Storm does what it does well enough, it can be better.

Those are what I'm hoping for. What do you guys think?

... everything but the os worth bragging about...

While that's all fancy and neat to have, it's not the focus of blackberries or RIM.

The thing i have to attribute is an OLED screen.. much better quality.

And maybe a capacitive touch system

I don't know... An OS worth bragging about might be a bit much but, at the same time, an OS that operates smoothly and efficiently would be great. I thought .148 brought that to the Storm but after playing with an iPhone 3GS this week I realized there is a long way to go.

I'm no iPhone fan but the flow and performance of its OS puts the current Storm to shame. I'm not saying I want the storm to be an iPhone. Just that the smoothness and performance of the iPhone OS greatly outpaces that of the Storm.

And the current storm already has capacitive touch. Has there been any indication that the Storm 2 would have a different touch technology?

Speed. Period. I have been an avid storm fan...but after seeing the new iPhone, I am looking to get out of my VZW contract. Enough is enough.

I hate to tell you guys, but I think this device is already out of production and in testing. None of this is going to come to fruition.

The new device should be a great unit. I havent gotten mine but I am sure that it will have lots of memory for apps.. and other goodies.. if ya liked the first unit this one will appeal. I really dont think it can beat the IPHONE till Rim changes the way they design and think about the touchscreen user interface as the standard OS converted to touch leaves room for improvement..

Just for fun... I'd like the browser to keep up with the 3G network and I'd like LTE (well, I can at least dream).

The device will be mediocre again. RIM will never have a touch screen phone that even competes with any of the newer touch smart phones coming out as long they just port over the standard OS and convert it to touch. Most of you won't admit it but it's the truth. Storm 1 users will all upgrade in droves since their phone is highly mediocre but no one else will buy that phone unless they are ignorant. It'll do good numbers but it will once again fail as a "flagship phone" and it will once again be a bad Blackberry and a bad consumer touch screen device.

I'll absolutely admit that all they've done is port over the standard OS, but truth be told, that's one of the reasons I buy BlackBerry. I've had an iPod Touch for longer than I've had BlackBerries, and I like the BlackBerry OS the way it is. Admittedly, I also liked DOS, so maybe I'm just a masochist.

This is so excellent. RIM is not about flash, they are about reliability. I wish they would change their views, but you can't have it all.

I agree with the op though, more memory, considerably faster processor/graphics, and a smooth OS - not flashy, just smooth. I know asking for an Xbox in my hand is unreasonable; it is a cell phone. However, I do not think it is too much to ask for a later generation touchscreen model to be at least par or ahead of the competition.

I don't know about you guys but whats a flagship product with out all the bells and whistles. I would like to see a Storm with WIFI.

Oh, ya and a fully working OS AT launch would be great. I guess maybe I am one of the few that think that something should work before it hits the market.

Its all about the OS and the application memory. If they don't get this right. We have another failure.

In order to be successful, Storm 2 will need the following (contribute to the list):

...work, physical and operationally (OS) from the start. None of this .65 cr*p like the 9530. Fully Test your Sheit RIM before you Rest your Sheit in the hands of the consumer.
