The only reason I don't have an iphone is the blackberry push email. As long as they don't have that I'll not be changing.

Agreed. It is THE reason to have a Blackberry after all. Email to me is as important, if not more so than voice, SMS or web browsing (I actually find RSS as handy as web browsing on my Crackberry).

If you want to be spoon fed, then buy an iPhone.
The faster rendering of Opera Mini 5 is a bit of both. Opera's servers takes the full site and compresses the data down and transmits it to the browser client. Saves strain on both the device and network.

Safari, if I'm not mistaken, renders the site on the device itself. So it's pulling the full data from the website through the network. Part of the reason why AT&T's network is overloaded.

I am also debating this question too, but I actually have an iPhone (under 30 days). I have owned the Storm (3 of them) and I have owned the BB Tour (2 of them). I have owned WiMo devices.

Where I live and use the phone(s) call quality and dropped calls have not been an issue. I have a work BB for corporate email, so iPhone email is fine. I don't text, so I don't really need a keyboard, but I won't lie to you: when I am ticked off, I can't type very well with an on-screen keyboard either. As for quantity of email, I get maybe 10 a day.

After reading this, I know, I don't really 'need' a smartphone, but what's need got to do with it.

Bottom line: I like carrying ONE device. I have my phone (a so-so one, I'll admit), my music, and my movie(s) all on one device. BUT I have had VZW for 9 years and have 3 lines (as of Nov 4th, the 3rd will be at contract end) and the 'loyalty thing' is actually my biggest issue.

So why a Storm 2? Uhhhh, because its a Blackberry!!!

Yes, I agree on the I phone thing. My sister has the IPhone 3GS... She sais it is way faster than he IPhone3G and she will never go back... ever. I have the storm, I am now on my 4th one due to software probs. Locking up, video not working my battery dieing and being really slow. Maybe this time it is fixed. I like my phone, but my sisters IPhone is much cooler. She has so many free apps or ones that are .99 or 1.99. Not something I can find for the storm. Plus it is so much faster, it also connects to wifi.

The exclusive rights are until 2012 as far as I remember. By then the iPhone will be old junk.

By all the review and preview videos, all the issues you listed are definitely fixed (though battery draining quickly might be because of something you're doing or your specific device's problem).

As for the free and $0.99 or $1.99 apps, this article would be a good read. They have a very interesting point...
