iPhone vs. Storm 2
I currently have the storm, but the storm 2 comes out within 6 months, however based on what i can tell, the iPhone is also coming to vzw. I need some input, I always wanted an iPhone but i was not on AT&T and when the storm came out i decided to give it a try. I love the storm. But i also want an iPhone, I have an i pod and a rarely use my storm for music purposes. If i could have some input from people, that would help a lot...Thanks!!

I think what its going to come down to is this.
-Battery life (iphone cannot swap batteries)
-Internet (it is unknown if vzw will have compulsatory internet packages)
-Real or Biz user - Iphone is a toy, Storm2 will be a mans phone. After Storming for almost two years, I now Curve it. - 06-01-2009, 02:44 PM #6
Who told you I phone is coming to Verizon? Anyway storm 2 and palm pre have both been confirmed and I would take either one of those over an IPhone.

depends on what you do. having being a iPhone user at one time I can tell you a few things
when it comes to media
iPhone is second to none. It is a great mp3 player does youtube well. third party applications add a ton of media uses..
as for email...
its not so hot. Its decent it does the job but its not fast by any means..
Syncing ---
on a mac nothing does it better -
on a pc your obviously required to have itunes.. which still works good but kind of a pain if you don't want itunes..
The web browser was the most advanced browser for a really long time and still is great...
but there is other browsers that I feel will beat it..
all in all you have to decide your uses. There both cool phones but cool isn't always the answer.Guys/Gals when I post things I am posting to the best of my knowledge if I am for certain incorrect please correct me more knowledge to me helps. Thanks!

Even though the Sorm 2 right now is no where near completion, I would say that hands down the iPhone is a vastly superior device.

The real question is will the storm 2 beat the pre2 and the iphone 4g micro?

!!!!!!!!These Blackberry's are just a toy and that is all they are!!!!!!!!
1 Reception in these storms suck (had a windows mobile phone previously that worked just about everywhere, not this storm, and I compared it to other storm owners also so it is the same)!
2 All Blackberry's do not show HTML emails properly at all!!!!!! (Iphone does)
3 If I delete something from my hotmail email on a computer it does not delete on the blackberry! See point 4. (Blackberry says it will work someday???)
4 I can not view my HTML hotmail email from the storm web browser! It shows only text and I have to very hardly use copy and past (takes a long time) (iPhone works, so I would not have to sync email in the first place).
Updates are speeding up the phone but are doing nothing to fix these problems at all to date!!!!!! Actually just creating more problems.
Color banding, Bluetooth problems, etc...
I was suppose to be buying a data phone not a POS that it is!
If there is a browser that does #4 correctly please stand up and post it!!
The iPhone wins hands down in all categories, nothing to date can touch it, I sure hope it comes to verizon next year I will be there! - 06-01-2009, 04:26 PM #15
I had heard it wasn't the iPhone per se, but it was something else fruity,"however based on what i can tell, the iPhone is also coming to vzw."
I had thought it was a sort of half way point between an iphone and that HP netbook they sell, in tablet form.
If they are getting the iphone it depends what you want it for, Apps and media, the iphone can't be beat (right now), everything else and I do mean EVERYTHING else BB has it beat.
This is especially true of email. My office is evenly split between BBs and iPhones. Sitting in meetings when company wide emails are sent is always funny as the iPhone users have to either wait or suffer through asking a BB user what the email says. Sometimes the delay is minutes behind my stormStorm: .75 < .132 < .148 < .151 < 5.0.323
And on the Seventh day RIM created OS 5.0, but Verizon took so long to release anything that the the good crackberryites turned to the the dark side and did loadeth leaked betas. And RIM wath peeved. And did say, "hey, hey, what do you think you are doing?" And the good crackberryites did say, "Don't judge us we just wanted flick scrolling." And RIM did give them a stern look but secretly thought it wath just dandy.
Blessed be the word of the RIM - 06-01-2009, 04:26 PM #16
The Storm is just as big a 'toy' as the iphone. Only thing is the iphone is great at what is does the Storm not so much.
Device history: 8100 > 8320 > 9000 (brief) > 9530 (Ugh!) & 8900 > 8220 > 8120 > 8520 > 9550
> 9000 > 9700 9650
BB tech: Got a problem? Feel free to PM me. - 06-01-2009, 06:04 PM #18
i agree, it won't be a reality until at least LTE launch...but it's not always bad to look toward the future. i wouldn't wait for anything that isn't within 4 months of release if not sooner. any farther than that and the reality is just slim to none that you'll get it on time, and it won't be a major fiasco of a launch.

I can't believe I'm wasting time posting to this, but I have some time to kill so I s'pose it's okay.
I've used lots of phone by lots of carriers, though I've been with vzw non-stop since my first phone (actually it was Ameritech at first, but that's not important).
Anyway...
1) Storm reception is EXCELLENT for me. I have a great signal and use in the basement in my church where people with Iphones and other phones by AT&T and verizon just have quick battery drain from trying to find a signal. The only one who gets better signal is our pastor who has a motoQ with US Cellular. His is the only phone that works in the kitchen
2) I don't have a problem with HTML emails. i get them all the time and can view them fine. DOn't know what your problem is.
3) Hotmail doesn't do IMAP so it would not be possible on any phone. It is a limitation of hotmail, not BB. I run my own server and my email is deleted from my phone within 30 seconds of the mail being deleted from the server. Same with read status. and it works both ways: if I delete on my phone, it deletes on the server within 30 seconds.
4) Hmmm. I don't use hotmail and discourage others to as well, but I wonder if hotmail has a problem with html to smartphones. Unlikely, but I wouldn't be surprised.
colorbanding: The only time i notice it is when an icon is highlighted in blue. Playing an identical movie or looking at identical pictures on my phone v. another phone with .75 it is impossible to tell a difference in picture quality. If RIM would just get rid of the gradients in the highlight coloring, everyone would think color banding is gone and no one would be the wiser.
that is all - 06-01-2009, 06:20 PM #21Lost count of how many phones I have had.

Definetly the storm...someone from AT&T said that they don't even offer the warranty with the iphone? is that true? if so...thats horrible, what a waste of money.

Best OS for Storm yet! - 06-01-2009, 06:29 PM #23
the warantee is facilitated through apple, so if you have network/service issues you call AT&T. hardware issues you call apple. it's pretty crappy IMO. that's one of the reasons i have VZW, they might screw up occasionally, but they react quick to correct their wrongs and they handle everything in house. one stop shop.

thats the best part about VZW...they are always willing to help, no matter what the problem is...well IMO, for the amount of money i pay for my family plan...they better lol!

you get what you pay for. i always pick carrier first, then the devices that fit within the capabilities of working with the carrier of my choice. it's way easier that way. less complaining about crappy service just to have some cool phone.
