That is what I did when I switched from a 8 GB card to a 16 GB card.

Copy your old media card to your computer, swap old for new, format your new one using your device, then copy all the saved data onto your new card.

Hi, since you are already switching the media card. I'd say let's leave the system and other files and copy just the music, videos and the photos.. or stuff you know you need and yes it works as simple copy paste.
