I downloaded the latest Facebook upgrade (3.0.0.17) a couple days ago and ever since I cannot get my Facebook Places to work.

Yes, my Location is turned on in my Advanced Settings.
Yes, my "share my location with Facebook" option is checked.
Yes, my Maps address recognition is turned on.
Yes, I've run the GPS fix-location test.
Yes, I'm attempting it outside.
Yes, I've uninstalled Facebook & reinstalled it.
Yes, I've rebooted my phone by powering off, removing the battery, waiting a couple minutes, and reinserting it.

My carrier is Verizon. I'm using a BlackBerry Storm 2 (9550).

Does anyone know what's wrong??

I'm totally depressed about this. Spent an hour on the photo with Verizon yesterday and they can't figure it out, either.

I'm getting ready to go on a cross-country trip, and I won't be able to use Places / Check-in at all.

Same issue here. I love to check in, and I can't with this upgrade. It will search for a while, then give up. I'm thinking about downgrading back to the previous version if I can.

UPDATE: I finally got the issue resolved with my phone. In another forum, someone suggested that I go to BlackBerry Beta Zone and download the latest version of Facebook-for-BlackBerry from their beta test site. And it worked!

The latest version / version I downloaded is: 3.1.0.9

You will have to register with their site, follow all steps carefully, and download it OTA (over the air) directly to your phone. Be sure to check your email afterward to get the keycode which is needed to access Facebook after the download and reboot are complete.

I've just made my first Check-In since this whole mess started!! Whoo-HOOO!!

UPDATE: I finally got the issue resolved with my phone. In another forum, someone suggested that I go to BlackBerry Beta Zone and download the latest version of Facebook-for-BlackBerry from their beta test site. And it worked!

The latest version / version I downloaded is: 3.1.0.9

You will have to register with their site, follow all steps carefully, and download it OTA (over the air) directly to your phone. Be sure to check your email afterward to get the keycode which is needed to access Facebook after the download and reboot are complete.
