This only started happening recently, it was after I installed Nintaii and a genuine OS update prompted by DM on my Storm2 from App World. I open up my messages and I scroll down fifteen messages and SMS and then suddenly it freezes up and I try scrolling back up but it stutters like it'a stuck in mud.

I exit the message application and reopen it, but then the above error shows. I click ok and then I can open the message app. But if I try to scroll down, it gets stuck in mid again and I get the error. I can still send and receive texts, but I am unsure about emails right now. It's very frustrating!

I have tried hard resets (restarting with no SIM) and I have tried deleting Nintaii, but that still doesn't work. It's still faulty.

Are there any ideas as to what may be causing this and how I can rectify it?

So youll first need to perform a wipe handheld. make sure you back up your info through bbdm, than on your device go to options>security>general>memory wipe. it will have an option to keep all third party apps, and memory card. i would suggest removing the memory card, and if you have a lot of third party apps you have paid for than deselect that box. once the handheld is wiped, takes about ten minutes. use the phone normally with non of you data on it. the error should not come up but for any reason it does you will need to go to blackberry.com and download the os for your device. once it is downloaded you can reinstall the os through bbdm>app loader...the choice that will appear on your screen to the far right is update. if for any reason it does not allow you to reinstall the os. which will not change, no upgrades at this time, it will reinstall your current os. if it says no software updates available. disconnect your interenet connection. on you computer open your c:// drive. go to program files>common files>app loader>loader. it will force the software update onto your handset, takes about 40 minutes. once the os is reinstalled test the device and make sure its working clean than reinstall your data through bbdm and reinsert your memory card and your good. this is all i do all day. i work tech on blackberrys. hope this helps and if you have any quistions please just ask or message me.

I am getting the same error message that you got Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException... but i only get this when i try changing my sound profile(no other time) ...
Now that this is happening, it is stuck on silent and i am not able to change it.
I tried uninstalling and deleting all of the apps that i downloaded from bb app world as i thought that one of the apps maybe have been corrupted.....

Please let me know if the solution that mostlydo suggested worked so that i can perform a wipe as well.
