Question Bye bye Verizon, but can I use my Storm2 on another Network? or buy one?

Gang, I am not technically solid like most of you, so I beg you for some help. I LOVE my Storm2, but the Verizon pricing is simply insane. No more. My contract i up and I need a cheaper plan.

Since I am in NYC I cannot flash my phone to MetroPCS. So I have been looking around and I see unlocked phones on eBay that state can be used with AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, etc.

Now, when I traveled overseas, Verizon unlocked my phone for me so I could use the local sim cards in SE Asia. So does that make MY phone unlocked enough to just go to another carrier with it?

Can anyone clear this up for me?

I see refurbished models on eBay for $150 or less and I suppose that will work fine for me. I can sell mine, but I love it and would prefer to just bring it with me somewhere else.

I do not want a Droid. I do not want an iPhone. And I do not like the newer Blackberries.

Thanks for your help.

I am trying to sell my Torch 9800. It is unlocked from Canada but I have used it with a prepaid SIM card in Michigan with no problems so it would work for you. Then you can pick what ever carrier you want. I would cover the shipping, let me know if you are interested and I can give a price and send pics.

I had a Storm before my Torch and let me tell you the Torch is way better.

Chris.

Former VZW Storm2 user here. It will work on AT&T and T-Mobile if your phone is unlocked. I it working (without BIS) on T-Mobile right now. You should be able to activate the BIS data feature but getting your mail via wi-fi on Google and Hotmail work just as well.

For my email, I have my own domain name hosted by Godaddy and I get that email into my BB. So can I continue to do that? Sorry for being so stupid on all this. I am not an expert or close to it.
