Because 3G CDMA sucks!!! T-Mo's EDGE system is better than 3G CDMA. Sorry, like I said, No 3G on this phone for the US model.

Let me repeat myself,

Good luck using 3G on the US model.

Does anyone know which storm2 (9520 or 9550) would be the best to use with AT&T or is there a difference other than carriers? Thanks

I tried out my first S2 today for a few seconds in a Go Wireless Store today. The (very hot) Sales Rep, opened a boxed one for me to try out.
I did not notice the screen being loose or hard to type on at all.
Very cool that the screen hardens up when the device is off..... but not a selling point for me as my device is rarely turned off.
I do think that hardware wise, that it is a big leap from the S1. Now that the Storm 1 has the new OS, functionally I feel they are both the same. Probably going to stick with my S1 since it has the new OS.... but just because I have a need for the latest and greatest I would be tempted to go for the S2. But there is no NEED to go to it as I feel that both the S1 and the S2 are great phones now.

I got my storm2 and i must say I am very impressed with the upgrades from the former storm. easier to type and much more memory on board.

If you bought through Verizon, and your within 30 days of your purchase, Yes. I bought my Tour less than 30 days ago, and traded in for S2 yesterday. Only had to pay the difference of like $30.

How would you compare the two phones? Is the S2 clearly the better phone? Seems like I've been reading a ton of negative comments about the Tour, and a ton of great comments for the S2. Does this seem about right across the board?

Default The Unfortunate Pessimimist

When I got the S1 I was bashed for complaining that it should have never been released with such a poor OS. I was bashed for not 'appreciating' the beta/leaked OS testing process. Well... delete me as a user if ya'll don't like what I got to say.

firstly... after all the OS updates to the S1, I now love the phone. I still stand by the fact that it should have never originally been released with the early OS. Why do I say this now? Well, the S2 is out now and that's what we're talking about. and... I prefer the S1 over the S2. And now I ask myself, where is BB going in this market? The S2 is, in my opinion, a crappier version than the S1. I went to a store today and got my hands on ALL the new phones. They had the S1 and the S2 side by side. The S2 looked and felt like a cheaper version than the S1. Even though they integrated the bottom buttons in to the screen, there is still a significant edge between the screen and the phone. To me, this makes the screen and phone look and feel like it came out of a crackerjack box. I sit hear saying to myself... you know... I like the buttons seperate from the screen. I don't think that is the effect they would have been hoping for with the 'new and improved' phone. also... big deal, the phone has WIFI. The first one should have had WIFI!

Where is BB going with their smartphones? Where's the grand plan? I looked at and handled the Motorola Droid. It was right next to the S1 AND S2 That phone is very well made. It screams of quality construction. That's how I felt when I picked up the first S1. Fairly, I did not like the tactile feel of the physcial keyboard in the Droid. But it was not because of a lacking in quality workmanship, just not what I would like in a keyboard. AND.... the HTC HD2 is around the corner and it is looking fantastic. So, again, I'm asking... where is BB's big grand plan? I like my S1, but I like - better - the company with a forward thinking plan.

Side note: For those who like the tradtional style BB, the Tour is really really nice.

This is my story from my visit to the store today. If you didn't bother with my moaning text above, suffice to say I left the store disappointed.

With all due respect, having actually used the S2 vigorously for the past 9 days, I find it to be a far superior device in absolutely every single way to the S1. Floor units are always a poor way to attempt to demo a device. Why? Because they get beat to **** by everything from heavyhanded adults to little kids. I have no substantial gap between the screen and the phone. None. The build quality is excellent. Everything that it is designed to do it does, and does well. The keyboard, after I became used to it, allows me to type emails far faster than I ever could on my S1, or on either of the 2 iPhones I owned prior to that. I'm able to run 20 apps with no degradation in my app memory - there are no leaks, and if there are they're a result of either an app or a corrupt db... nothing native causes leaks on the S2. Wifi is extremely handy at the office, which is built of concrete and steel (not the best for signal strength.) I could go on, but I think you get the idea.

Conversely, I demoed the Droid twice (Friday and Saturday.) It has a nice browser and nice, big screen. I love the core OS. Hate that it's not GSM-compatible. Looking forward to future Android 2+ device on VZW's network, but the Droid's not going to cut it for me.

As far as grand plans are concerned, I'll be watching with interest the feedback coming out of this week's RIM developer conference. I think we'll get a good idea of what's coming next. Final thought on grand plans: when you've got government and most of the Fortune 500 locked up you can afford to slow roll consumer-based products. I think that's exactly what RIM's building up for. Just my opinion though.

When I upgraded my Storm1 9530 to the official v.328 os everything worked, including home screen weather icon update. Always wanting the latest and greatest, I purchased a new Storm2 9550 with the v.320 software. The homescreen weather icon doesn't work and a couple of other small things. My question - can I put the .328 sfi file on to the Storm2 or make a hybrid to combine the best of both phones? Thanks.

I'm still not clear about the Storm 2 having a Press-kind touchscreen or a real touchscreen like the iPhone for example.
