A battery at the end of its useful life can cause your phone to cycle off and on repeatedly. Your phone will automatically turn off when the battery voltage becomes too low for proper operation. If you charge the battery, the phone will turn on. A battery that's worn out can no longer deliver enough current at the rated voltage. When that happens, the current demand causes the battery voltage to drop, triggering the device to turn off. When the device turns off, the current demand goes down, which allows the voltage to rise. If the voltage rises to a near normal level, the phone detects that and turns back on. As the phone starts booting up, the current demand increases, the battery voltage soon drops, and the cycle repeats. If this is what you are experiencing, a new battery will solve the problem. Note there may be other problems as well. A new battery is one possible solution, but not a guarantee.
