Default Blackberrry 9520 WiFi trouble !!

I have a Blackberry 9520, Storm 2 ...
The problem is that on the phone menu I can't find any icon, or settings to connect my phone to WiFi in available WiFI HotSpots ...
I mention that I use this phone with a prepaid sim card from Vodafone ...
Some technicians told me that even for WiFi internet connection I need a Subscription Plan to my carrier, so the WiFi will appear on my phone in this case.
Questions:
Is really true that if I will have a subscription plan in that situation I will be able to connect to internet both ways, WiFI and Vodafone Life???
The WiFi icon will apear in "Mannage Connections" menu?
This is the reason? Missing of the Subscription Plan?
Thanks

BlackBerry 9520
smartphone (3G, WiFi)
v5.0.0.713 (bundle 1206, plartform 4.2.0.323)

technically your technician is correct however eventhough you don't have BIS/BES subscription, you can still use WIFI provided that you set your default browser to HotSpot Browser.

Please be reminded that some APP wont work with WIFI such as YM, GTALK, AIM, BBM. FB and Twitter works fine on WIFI.

Many things on a BlackBerry are controlled by Service Books. WiFi is one of those things.

With many service providers, without the proper BlackBerry Data service plan, you won't get those service books.

Once you get the proper data plan, the Service Books are pushed to the device from the carrier/provider.
