Default Anticipated upgrade cost for upgrading from Storm 1 to 2?

My Storm is my first Verizon phone, so I'm not familiar with Verizon's upgrade policy.

What is the guess of the price to upgrade from a Storm 1 to Storm 2 when it comes out?

After seeing the latest leaked video of the new S2 touchscreen it appears that it may solve my 1 gripe on the current Storm - typing on the keyboard, so I'm more interested in jumping on this new one...

It'll probably hit at the same price point as the Tour. There won't be any special upgrade from the S1, if you're eligible for an upgrade either annual or NE2 you'll get the upgrade discounts there.

What makes some of you say there will be a discount for S1 users? Is there a precedent for this on Verizon?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love the discount, but I'm just wondering why people anticipate Verizon offering one.

I'm with zazz, I'd love to see a discount, but why would they give a discount? They're business is making money.

Wonder what the upgrade would be for AT&T. I am saving my upgrade for the new Storm.

Anyone have ideas?

I doubt there will be a discount for Storm 1 users. That would imply a tacit admission by VZW that they released a substandard product and invite all kinds of potential problems, legal, financial and otherwise.
I have never in my 20 years at VZW and its predecessor entities upgrade before qualifying for NE2, but I might do just that and pass my beloved Storm 1 to my daughter.
What exactly is the difference between NE2 pricing and the 1-year upgrade pricing?

I moved to Verizon to get the Storm. I'm mostly happy with the Storm, but I'm frustrated with Verizon for slow support of official OS updates, and frustrated with RIM for pushing the Storm 1 out the door, when it was painfully obvious the Storm 2 was the 'bug fix' for all the problems of the original -- even before the launch date.

Bottom line, I feel like I've been paying to beta test a product for about 10 months now. I'm not saying Verizon and RIM have to give me a discount towards replacing my Storm 1, but some sort of compensation will go a long way towards keeping me as a long-term customer in a market where more and more choices are going to be made by the customer. (Thank you FCC!)

Assuming ATT gets it, then it would probably be a $399 phone at launch w/ $100 MIR....I don't have an upgrade available until 2011. I'm sure something better will be out by then. I might just pay the early term fee with ATT and join up with Verizon and get the discounted rate. It would be cheaper than buying the thing full retail.
