9550 gprs activation???

Happy New Year Everyone!!!

My sister sent me her not so new BB 9550 here in the Philippines, w/c I am currently using right now with a smart sim. Problem is I still cant use the internet or send mms, as I was advised by smart that I would need to call BB manila first about this before they can activate my GPRS. I'm wondering why and what for? Please dont tell me to just use wifi I dont always have the luxury of time to find for wifi spots. Will this be something I can fix myself? Hope someone can help.

i'm not familiar with the services that smart provides because it happened to my Storm 2 when i used a SMART SIMCARD so i tried Globe.. Globe provides a stable Blackberry Data Plan service.. try switching to Globe and use BBMAX50 send it to 8888 to try it out(it requires Php 50 load and 1 pesos to continue using the plan and its for 1 day only) after your subscription you will recieve a message saying: your "edge" will now turn to EDGE and you can now use GPRS and MMS services.. after that go to advanced options>Host routing table>BB button>REGISTER NOW..... wait for a message from blackberry that says: Your device is now connected. Look at the edge sign and wait for it to turn to All caps EDGE or 3g with a Blackberry symbol ( usually takes about a couple of minutes) and then your Done

ginawa ko po yan pero wala po dumarating na your device is now connected. smart po gamit ko before kaya lang everytime na magrereboot bb ko e nawawala po ung configuration na internet browser. so ngaun po lumipat ako sa globe pero same pa din, what should i do po?
