I should preface this by saying that my only prior experience with BlackBerries was the 8300 Curve I used for the past year.

Each time I upgraded the OS, I had to call IT so they could do something in their system to allow me to reactivate the BlackBerry Enterprise Service -- always the same password on my end, but after they made their entry, I only had a short window to reconnect.

Anyway... pain in the kiester for me, and I'm sure my requests didn't make me any friends with IT.

So, what's the deal with the OTA upgrade? Same deal? Or will performing OS updates in this manner somehow prevent me from having to re-register my device with the guru in the dark hole?

Most likely you still still have to run the enterprise activation after an upgrade b/c the upgrade wipes all the data, and you can't just jump onto BES. the admin needs to set an activation password first.
OTA will just allow you to do this w/o a cord, at any time.

This is just an educated guess, but seems logical.
