Default Why no trackball?

Now I know that this is a touch screen device, but they really should have included the trackball as part of the Storm

Without multi-touch to zoom in on things, smaller things to select are going to be a bit of a hassle. From what I have dealt with my iphone, a touch screen is nice, but should be complimented with a manual way of going about to select things.

Just a thought, but combining the two would have been the best solution.
Quicker navigation and ease of selection, with a beutiful screen and a nice on screen keypad.

Oh well, one can wish.

Where would they put a trackball? I feel like it would look quite stupid and not be that effective. Hopefully the zoom feature is good on the browser, and I can't see other things being that hard to click..

The Storm is rumored to have multi-touch and 'gesture' touch.

I hope it's as effective as the iphone. And they would have to redisign the phone a bit to get the trackball there, but it would work just fine I think.

Probably for the same reason they did away with the scroll wheel - it's not needed any longer - something better has come along.

Full touch is cool once you get used to it, change is always good for one.

Why would you need a trackball for a touch screen...from what has already been seen, you will probably be able to slide your finger around the screen till your selection is highlighted, then press to select it! Isn't that way better?? trackball shmackball...

I HATTTTTEEEE the stupid iPhone way of zooming in and out. I mean using two fingers to squeeze/pinch things. It's sooooo 'gimmiky' which people love and worship. BUT, it's SOO inconvenient.

There ARE better ways to do things.

I do not mind the no trackball on the Storm. As long as the touch screen works as advertised by the people in the know, I think it will be okay.

Asking why no trackball on a phone like that is like asking why no external antenna on a phone like the bold

Not exactly! External antenna is no longer needed because of patch antennas

Having a trackball would defeat the whole purpose??

A touch screen is sufficient enough.
