So I have an unlocked storm, my phone service is with T-mobile. My phone freezes up at least twice a day. I always have to do a battery pull is there a way to avoid doing?
Also, since my phone says 'edge' does that mean my internet is running on 3g?
Upgrade your OS to fix your reboots. No, edge is not 3G. It will say 3G if its on 3G. Try searching the forums before you post next time. A lot of your issues can be easily resolved by just using search.
Aval beat me to it. Unless you are in a 3G area, you won't get that kind of connection. It seems to me that your fastest connection is either edge or EDGE. Sorry mate. Either you move or switch to CDMA, 1XEV is faster anyways
You need to find an OS that works well with your phone. I went through about 4 different OS's before I found one for my Storm that kept and EDGE network.
Edge in caps is the fastest you will get but that's not 3g go to verizon or another carrier that has 3g. Edge carriers don't have 3g sorry a lil more research before you buy can save some heart ache.
And my phone hasn't froze in months so either a bad phone, app, or os .151 is great .148 if you want offical verizon but ..151 is really much better for 80% of users just search forms. Stay away from hybrids unless you just like to tinker.

If you're in North America, you're not going to get 3G on T-Mobile (or AT&T). North American GSM providers use different frequencies for their 3G networks than European providers, and the Storm (both 9500 and 9530) only contains GSM 3G radios that operate on European frequencies.
