After a frustrating install of .83, I just thought of something. I wiped the phone completely with JL, and then installed the update. When I finally got the phone up and running, the phone automatically knew my carrier was Verizon, defaulted to a VZW wallpaper, and responded when I called my number, etc. (didn't have to re-send servie books, etc.) How does it do this if the update is universal for all phones that are 9530? Is carrier specific stuff permanently programmed into ROM? Is it the SIM card? A newb question, I know, but curiosity is getting at me

I am guessing you didn't delete the vendor.xml file

Also if you synced your backup back to the phone it could have pulled that data back in

The backup file has a bunch of databases with all your information.

Nope didn't delete the xml file. Ended up working fine in the end though. Guess it was good in a way that I ended up keeping it.
