warranty/insurance
My friend is on her 3rd storm. She bought the extended warranty AND has insurance.
She keeps getting refurbished ones from the store.
Does warranty and insurave mean the same thing here?
Help?

Warranty will only cover defects for a year. There is no deductible for warranty coverage.
The optional insurance will cover accidental damage, cracked screen, loss/stolen phone, etc. but you pay the $50 deductible.
With Verizon, the $6 a month insurance will also extend the manufacturer warranty for another year. - 07-03-2009, 08:37 AM #3
atleast your getting the refurb ones. I got the best buy insurance instead (for what reason I don't know) I have been waiting for 2 and half weeks already waiting for it to be fixed.

Thank you Carlos!
So her only option is getting refurbished phones which Verizon deem are like new phones?
They are defective. Shut offs and constant restarts with nothing added.
Other than getting her a tour (which I am getting her, and inheriting this storm) is there anything that can be done to remedy this problem?

With both Insurance and Warranty coverage Verizon usually replaces the phones with refurbished ones. Some people get new phones as replacements but I'm guessing that may have to do with inventory at hand.
Here is a video of the unboxing of a refurbished Storm from Verizon. It seems like the phone is close to new condition.
