I am considering ordering a Storm. I have a couple questions on plans...

I have an account already for my wife's phone. I was in a couple weeks ago talking to someone about the storm and he said I could add a blackberry to a family share plan. I have a 20% discount through work and I was told that is good for the data as well.

Plan is to get a Premium Family Share line but when I go online to "add a line" then select the family plan, it will not let me choose a blackberry.

On a side note, this is how I was told the billing would go when I talked to someone at a VZ kiosk.

    --------------------------
    $139.99-$29.99 = $110 x .20 = $22 discount. (Discount comes off of line 1 and on a premium family share, a additional line is $29.99)

So according to this person, the bill goes like this...

    $110 - $22 = $88 + $10 (non-Premium add a line) + $24 (discounted blackberry data) =

$122 Monthly cost for a Blackberry and a regular phone on a family share plan with 700 minutes.

Does anyone have a BB on a family plan with a regular phone that could clear up if it is possible? Website does not allow it.

I am in similar situation but i have no info yet ...

So if i followed your plan (assuming its correct) my wife would have a reg phone, i would have a storm, and the bill would be roughly $120 which would include 700 shared minutes? (i too get the 20% off)

Do i need to add a text message addition as well? Or is that included on the storm?

you do need to add text messaging to each line. Your approach above looks fine. I cannot speak to your first 29.99 discount - do not know what that is for.

Keep in mind you do not get the new every two on the second line of a family plan.

I have the family basic plan. Regular price is 80 plus 10 for my wifes phone. I add the data plan at 30. Tether for 15 visual voice for 3.

    I get 15% off of my line ($80 -15%)
I dont get a discount for anything under $30.

    My plan is

    80-15% = 68 +10+30+15+3 is $126 plus tax

We are in the same boat, but my 20% discount only applies to plans $34.99 and up, so my data plan and second line were not discounted. Might be something worth checking on if your discount applies to it all or not.. For me, the base bb plan is NOT discounted but the enterprise plan would be.

In our case, we pay the base price for the family share plan less 20% + 9.99 for the additional line +5.00 and +10.00 for two different texting plans +29.99 for the BlackBerry non enterprise plan. Only the base plan has the discount.

Why wouldn't you just get the unlimited texting? It should work for all lines.

MattG56 - i had the same run around.

All Verizon ads plug "$250......less $50 w/mail in rebate & 2 yr contract, blah blah blah". I get to the store on opening day and then find the cost is $500.

They then sold me a 'family plan'. I've never had this type of plan in 10+ yrs of being with Verizon.

We now have 2 new phone numbers (on 2 existing business cell phones). This makes 4 phone lines for 2 actual users (2 will sit in a drawer). We also add a $10/mo charge to our monthly business bill (+ $240 over 2 yrs, could be more if we forget to cancel at end of 2 yrs). Surely, Verizon will just automatically remind us or cancel this.

    We paid $199 (after $50 mail in rebate) x 2 = $398
We paid $10/mo extra , converting 2 indiv. business accts to 'family play' ? (BULL SHIXX) = + $ 240

We ended up paying $320 per phone (subsidizing part at $10/mo for 2 yrs). What kind of BULL SHIXX is that!?

    Welcome to the NEW Verizon.

They use to be very customer friendly.

As chrisy stated the blackberry cannot be on a premium family plan but it can be on the select plan wich covers you unlimited texting on all phone for a lot less than if you were to get texting on each line of a basic plan.

Sure you do. I have a four-line plan and have used the "new every two" for three of them -- including an upgrade to a BB.

I don't understand. You thought you could get two Storms on two existing lines for which you were not eligible for the upgrade? And you let them talk you into adding two lines that you don't need? And it's their fault?

Sounds like the saleperson did their job correctly. All I can do is laugh cuz the thought did run through my mind before I relized that the storm is yet another disabled blackberry thanks to the folks at big red.

It would actually be $9.00 more than we are paying right now. My wife is the texting person in the family, and most of her friends are on Verizon. The 500 message plan has unlimited "In" texting. I have the cheapest on mine so she can send me messages while on the road, as well as photos and videos of our kids. My average text usage per month is around 80, and hers is around 400. It'd be a bit of overkill if we had the next step up plan, but if she starts using more, that's our next step.

I know when you're already paying as much as we are a month, anther 9 bucks isn't that much, but I guess it's the principle I'm under that I don't want to pay for more than we are using if I don't have to.

From what I understand, you only get the "new every two" credit on plans of $39.99 and higher. BUT you are still able to get the promotional pricing on all of your other lines after the same time frame. The only difference is you do not get the $100.00 credit with the NE2 on any line but the main line with the family share plan.

I could be wrong on this, but in the six years we've been with Verizon, this seems to be what has happened.

That was not a "discount" I subtracted that amount because that is the cost of the 2nd line in a premium family plan, which does not apply to the family plan.

Looks like it is possible to add the BB to a family plan, just not working online, which sucks because they are running a free activation promo.

You are correct. I am the primary on my line. My wife still has her RAZR from almost 3 years ago. I want to upgrade her to the curve. I have called CS, and I have visited a few differnt stores. They all tell me that she only gets the promotional price, not any additional NE2 money off (like I got $100 off my storm)
