Unlocked Verizon but Virgin Mobile sim won't work

I recently got a Verizon Blackberry 9530. I got it unlocked, now it accepts my sim card (I'm with Virgin Mobile Canada) and "Virgin" shows up as the Mobile Network under "Manage Connections". When I try to make a call I get "call failed". Only the SOS icon is showing on the home screen. I have tried under Manage Connections, changing from Global to GSM/UMTS and every on of the possible 2G, 2G and 3G, and 3G connections. It won't work if I set to Roaming either.
Is there anyway I can get this phone to work with Virgin Mobile? I'm told it isn't compatible with the Virgin Network, but can something be done so it will work with Virgin. I don't want to change my carrier and I would like to use this phone.
By the way, I have a Blackberry 9000 and it works fine with the Virgin sim card.

I don't believe the 9530 will work on Virgin Mobile only Rogers and Fido as Virgin is HSPA not GSM.

It appears that Virgin Moblile will only accept Virgin Mobile phones.
