BES stands for BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If your BlackBerry was given to you by your employer for use on the employer's network, you are almost certainly a BES user. BES gives the employer complete control of the phone, whether you can install 3rd party apps, access the internet, use Bluetooth or the Media Card. It also enables logging of messages and phone calls. Checkout Lecture #2 in the BlackBerry 101 Lecture Series.

You can't accidentally be on a BES. Your employer's IT dept has to give you a one-time activation password and you have to activate on the Enterprise. Once you've done that, appointments, tasks, memos, address book entries, and email all synch wirelessly. You no longer need to use DM and synch with a USB cable.

If you can turn off your device password, I think that will turn off the password for Mass Storage Mode. I am on BES, and cannot disable my device password, so I can't confirm that.

well i need the device password for when I lock the phone, or turn it on, but when you hook up every few hours to usb, the password setting for Mass Storage Mode really gets annoying. Any help turning that specific password off would be greatly appreciated

If you don't use Mass Storage Mode very often, you can set the Auto Enable... Option to No. Will that stop the password prompt?

but i use the mass storage mode, thats what you have to use to explore your folders and add media to your device. I need the Mode, just not the password to access it.
