    Default Trouble with BIS

Hello there, purchased a blackberry 9530 unknowingly sometime back, thought it was a 9500, I understand that the 9530 is a non wifi handset that utilizes both CDMA and GSM networks. Ever since I had this phone I'm having issues with my BIS, it's originally a Verizon Wireless handset and I'm using it on VodaCom in South Africa, I think it's unlocked since I'm able to make and receive calls as well as smses, back to the problem... The area on the top left hand side where you can see your signal bar, where you would see EDGE, the phone cuts off the BIS, hence it will drop to edge, it's an ongoing issue, then I've gotta go into Mobile Network Options, then turn off my Data Services, then turn it on again, its a temp fix. Is there anything I can do? I ended spending a lot for this phone, just replaced the LCD. I'd appreciate any help I can get, could it be that I'm using it on a GSM network? After I had the LCD replaced, I'm getting this message "SIM Card Error" what could be causing this? That too comes right when I reboot the phone sometimes.
