I am traveling to Barbados next week, and have been looking at ways to most effectively use my Storm while there. Currently with Verizon on a BES plan.

I am going to have VZW set up global capabilities for $69 a month which will allow unlimited data, which should cover me on the email coverage. The charge for outgoing/incoming calls is $1.99/minute, which is a little steep. Will be down there 8 days, and I am sure my wife will call to check up on the kids.

Is there a more cost effective solution for voice/phone coverage while there?

Are there prepaid SIM cards available for use in Barbados? If so, do I need to bet phone unlocked for them to work? Also, if I put a SIM in for calling while there, I think I would have to switch back to VZW SIM card for the data to work properly.

Any recommendations, suggestions or ideas on the best way to deal with this would be appreciated.
