When I receive a text, my phone decides to ring whenever it feels like it, and not everytime i receive a text. Any reason for this...

ie...it will when i receive a text...but not all text messages.

Pls help and Thanks in advance

Perhaps your volume is set to ring for phone calls only.

It will ring on just some texts but not all my incoming texts...is that the reason though?

what preference do i change it to?

Im actually having this problem as well. Sometimes it alerts me, sometimes not, wether or not in vibrate mode.

I also having the same problem... It happens to me in BB Messanger and SMS... I don't know if its my imagination but it seems like it happens when i stay with-in either application (SMS or BB Messanger) and then i receive another of the same message it doesn't alert....

I just started noticing this problem today as well. I resent my service books and did *228 (verizon) to re-establish activation with the network. I turned up my volume and check my settings as well. So far so good. I also did multiple battery pulls.

Someimes I think mine misses some text messages as well.

In fact sometimes when you are customizing tones and press TRY IT it does not play.

I had this problem. It seems like after you receive a text or email and dont close out of it it wont ring. I know that messenger doesnt completely close but but it seems to work every time once you hit the close through the blackberry button. Hope this helps.

Just tried this...and it still doesn't seem to alert me of a txt message...

I've had this problem too. Sometimes it notifies me, sometimes it doesn't. Still don't know why.

I was having the same problem but only for contacts that i had made a contact alert for. I changed the messages alert settings and it seemed to fix it.

Hmm... I don't have any specific contact alerts on mine. Seems very "hit and miss" - perhaps it is a bug that might be addressed in the next firmware upgrade

This has been an issue ever since I had the phone. .65 -> .75 -> .85
Might be a glitch...but if there are people who doesn't have this problem...then it can't be an os issue....no?

I think it might have to do w/ the type of ring tone alert....changed it to a BBpro_sanguine sound and so far is seems to work...previously i had it on Notifier_cricket.

What is everyone's alert tone at? seeing if this is actually the case...

Or it might be that you can't have the same tone set for "messages" and "instant messages"

Pls give your input...we together might be able to solve this issue
