Amazing. Glad I found this thread/forum.

I was having the screen click problem in the lower right hand corner, in addition to some general typing accuracy issues, so I thought I'd give this temporary fix a try. I folded a piece of my business card in thirds and placed on top of the battery. Simply amazing (and a little frightening?) that it worked. Many thanks!

Now, like others have mentioned, I'm not sure that I want to go through the entire process of getting a new phone and not knowing whether it would actually be any different. (Especially after spending the last week "personalizing" everything.) Since so many have the same problem, surely Verizon and/or Blackberry will take the initiative and do something like a new battery cover or some such?

Not sure, I guess I got lucky my Storm works great. It clicks on all edges just as it does in the middle. My Storm is also very fast unlike some of the other blogs I have read.

Those who have requested new phones from Verizon - have you received them yet? And has the issue been resolved?

I noticed my issue is right above the battery, no where else. Once I put a folded up business card behind the battery, everything worked better. But I don't want this as my fix.

As much as I would like to call VZ and request a new phone, I'm afraid that I'll receive a phone in the same condition.

I was having a problem with the click on the edge near the ear piece. I cut a business card in half the folded it twice, placed it between the cover and the battery and it works awesome! What I did for a more permanent fix was get some foam double sided tape. I cut a 1 inch by 1 inch square piece, went down about half an inch from the top of the battery cover and stuck it there. I obviously left the paper on the other side of the double sided tape so it wouldn't stick to the battery. This may well be RIM's permanent fix if they receive to many returns regarding this problem. They will most likely send out "kits" to Verizon stores and instruct the techs that if anyone comes in with this complaint to do this. I would imagine that they would resign the battery door slightly to compensate this like maybe round out the top edge of the battery door (the part that has the tabs on it) so that it fits better. Right now there is a lip when you run your fingers from the camera onto the door that is very noticeable. Round that edge out and it will be a lot smoother. I've worked for a few manufacturing companies and single sided foam tape (similar to the weather proofing foam tape you can find in your local hardware store) was a favorite for using to fix "fitting" problems. To much of a gap between two components? Slap some foam in between and your good to go. You could also pick some of that gray weather proofing tape from your local hardware store and place a strip of it on the battery cover. The foam is great as it provides some "give". When to much pressure is applied to it, it will compress but still provide enough pressure. Also, it will look more "official" then a business card falling out of your Storm if you had to open it from your SIM or memory card.

To be honest I can't decide if I'm having issues. I think it's okay but I put in a business card and it doesn't seem that different. The only area it seems like I'm having an issue is near the ear piece in the middle of the BB logo. I don't really know what it should feel like though. I love this phone none the less.

Fix worked like a charm -- Thanks!!!

Only thing is -- Verizon said they can send me a replacement right away but the stores will be getting them in on December 15th and will have the newer everything (newer software version and newer hardware for the clicking).

Think I should get it now or wait?

It takes more than just a single business card piece. Try a little more drastic approach (3 pieces). 1 under the battery, 2 above. Same dimensions as the battery. It's a tight squeeze but makes a dramatic difference.

I put one business card in, although it was a heavier card stock. It was just enough resistance to close the battery bay.

So they actually said there's a hardware revision coming? Did they say what they were specifically doing?

I returned mine today and so far the click is better. I still don't really notice that nice clicking sound. It happens sometimes depending on a certain part of the screen.
It might not seem like a big deal, but I actually like the clicky sound.
Listen how it sounds in this video.

Yah, my tech told me they haven't heard anything about this either. Clearly, they are playing stupid. He was having me do reboots and battery pulls and crap. I told him that he was crazy if he thought any of that would work and that it was a physical issue with the screen. Long story short, they are sending me a brand new one on the 15th as well.

In the meantime, I tried the cereal box trick, and it is working great. Thank you so much, I am happy to have a temporary fix until my new one arrives!

I got Verizon to send a replacement unit. I haven't received it yet. The customer service rep did say she thought there was a supply of Storms for people who already bought them and were having problems as opposed to those who were just ordering. She, of course, had not heard of the reported problem. I informed her of the business card fix.
