I don't know who it was from...Im just asking...is it stored somewhere or can it be retrieved off of verizon wireless.com or something

after about 3 lines of text on sms message, i get a "field full" message and can't insert any additional text. i'm new to this "smart phone" thing, so there may be an obvious solution that i don't see. can't find anything in the very limited info verizon provided. old BB i used at work had no such limitation. can anyone out there help me?
