I'm using Xilisoft DVD ripper and it's working well, but I notice that I'm getting what I would describe as a stuttering effect where ever 3-4 seconds the video slows just a little. Don't notice this on the Babylon AD trailer. Any ideas or what settings are best to use?

I am using this as well with good results. For some reason i am not getting all of the movie converted. It broke up my one DVD into 4 separate vob's and the entire movie wasnt contained in there.

On some DVD software packages, there may be an option that's checked by default to split the VOBs into 1gb chunks. If your program allows you to toggle that, it may be more convenient to generate one large VOB.

As for the stuttering, what bitrate are you encoding at? I'm using 768 for H.264 and about 1284 for MPEG. My files are on the microSD card and I can watch movies fine without problems.
