Storm vs g1 vs iPhone
- I have narrowed down what kind of phone I am going to get this week.
This is the order I have them in
Storm
g1
iPhone
Does anyone have any experience will at least 2 of these and can compare them. Everything that the Storm has makes me put it at first.
I currently have Verizon so I will get a hundred off if I stay with them.04-11-09 09:33 PMLike 0 - I have narrowed down what kind of phone I am going to get this week.

I've had all 3 of these phones. Here is what I think.
Storm - Great phone and great network
G1 - Bought it and hated it. Didn't like the keyboard idea very much.
iphone - Had this phone and after all of the hype, at the end of the day, its just a toy.04-11-09 09:45 PMLike 0 - I have narrowed down what kind of phone I am going to get this week.

Storm - Cumbersome, ancient, bogus, convoluted, sh1tty OS. Do Not Buy, you will not be happy at least until the next Official OS, and you may not even like the click screen. I had one, I sold it. My dad has one, he's trying to sell it. Even with the screen fix it is tiring and cumbersome.
G1 - Interesting OS. Decent UI navigation. Bogus network. If t-mobile has 3g in your area, this is a good choice. Especially with the opensource linux based Android OS.
iPhone - I own one, I love it. The UI is awesome and it is very intuitive. I originally thought I would hate AT&T, but then I realized that I have either 3G or wifi wherever I go. Speed is non-issue, with their 3G I actually pull down faster data than with VZW. Now, I know, no warranty right? I actually found one at SquareTrade | Great Warranty Deals on Laptops, TVs, iPods & More. Oh yeah, lest we forget, IMAP folders......need not say anymore.
Let's not forget the Pre...I have no experience with this, but it looks intriguing.Last edited by ihackeverything; 04-11-09 at 09:54 PM.

- I have had all 3 and still have all the 3. If you have t mobile 3g in your area i would get that one ( i would be using mine if i had 3g here) i still have verizon and at&t so i still use the iphone and storm (just ditched an Omnia i had thrown into the mix) the iphone is really nice in every area except call quality sucks big time. I think i am happiest with the storm. I and when the new OS comes out it will be a very complete phone.....hopefully lol04-11-09 10:39 PMLike 0

I had the T-Mobile G1, I liked it for a month. Then I sold it, because it got boring and I hated how it looked. The OS gets very boring after a while.
iPhone 3G never actually had one, but definitely is a GREAT MEDIA PHONE! If that's what your looking for.

Not true lol. I actually have to give a vote for the iPhone 3G. From the post we get on the CB forums, there are a lot of threads regarding lots of bugs with the Storm. I personally wouldn't get the Storm.

The G1 also has awesome Gmail/Google Calendar integration.04-11-09 10:49 PMLike 0 - I had a G1 with T-Mobile before getting a Storm with Verizon. I am cancelling my contract with Verizon tomorrow and sending the Storm back after having it only a few days. I am so ready to get back to my G1. Yes, Verizon's network is faster, but the Storm is sooooo slow. The lag on it is so frustrating. I found myself hating to have to use it to make a call.04-11-09 10:53 PMLike 0
- Well you should get get a hold of the g1 and test it out for a while because the OS is probably the best part about it
I still love my storm but the worst thing about is the slow os. Im a big fan of android. If you don't like it then don't bother getting the g1
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-11-09 11:02 PMLike 0 - It all depends on what u want. I have a Storm and am pretty happy with it. In an honest opinion it is a bit slow compared to other berries. U have a lag when u click an option and orient screen transitions. But the network, email and reliability keep me here.
A friend of mine has the G1. The keyboard is a bit weird feeling for me. But the android system is awesome I must say. But it is Tmobile which is also a negative.
And the iPhone is great if u want all the games and apps. I had bad experience with AT@T so I will try to be as fair as I can. The phone itself is a great phone for the novice user. Tons of toys and games to put on it. Neat quirks and gadgets and is fit for most average people.
If u are gonna get a phone for more of the emailing, working, MS Word and spreadsheets, go with the Storm. If u want a phone to play with, ge the iPhone.
And btw, I love the clarity of the screen on the storm, downloaded some movies to it and put them in high def quality and it definitely turns heads.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com04-11-09 11:04 PMLike 0 - I will agree with the comment about the lag. .75 is HORRIBLY slow. I hated it til I took the leap and downloaded the leaked OS. If u get a storm first thing is to install a leaked os. Is worth it.
Also there is a learning curve with a Storm. Give it a week. The whole surepress takes a while to use. I actually prefer it now. When I use my buddies iPhones I find myself trying to press the screen and they tap mine rather than press it. Lol. And imo the storms screen is 3 times more responsive than the iPhones.
Anyway that's my 2 cents.

I am currently using the Storm and I am very satisfied with it. The problems people post about here haven't shown up for me yet. VZW's network is great and I have yet to lose signal anywhere. It just does what I need it to do.
The G1 is a cool phone and there were features about it that I liked, but the build quality of the phone wasn't that good. And, the phone was a bit bulky for my taste. IMO, Android has a lot of possibilities and it will only get better in time.
You'll have to look at what you will need the phone primarily for and make your decision from there.04-11-09 11:13 PMLike 0 - I have not used the G1, but I own and Storm and the iTouch. My dad has the iPhone.
If you can wait till 3.0 comes out for the iPhone and see if it is what you want then do that.
To be honest the only reason I have the Storm is because of the network. If At&t had as good a network as Verizon I would have the iPhone. The iPhone is fun and the games and applications are really cool and the graphics are great.
Until RIM can get their sh*t together and get the Storm running to it's potential I would say hold off. Also their is rumor of a Storm 2. You may want to wait and see what happens.
Think of it this way, Apple is seasoned in the game of touch screens and applications. RIM is really only beginning to to think about crawling. While Apple is running marathons.
I have used almost every Storm "Beta" OS and honestly it is getting old. I am going to stop for a while and hope for an official. If not maybe i'll give up a testicle for an OS that actually lives up the hype.
If you can wait it out I would say do that... But then again if you don't want e-mail life a BB, LG and Samsung are starting to make some nice entry level touch screens.04-11-09 11:21 PMLike 0 - I have had 2 of these phones.

I agree to both comments!!04-11-09 11:47 PMLike 0 - Storm is slow with .75 firmware but if you're a tech savvy I would highly advise you to upgrade it to .122 leaked firmware. That is what i am running right now and it is pretty stable and I'm loving every second I use my Storm.
G1 is still too new and it looks like crap. The Andriod OS is crap compared to the iPhone. G1 keyboard sucks. Its lags worse the .75 firmware.
iPhone has intuitive interface but it is not that stable. The media player kicks the Storm's by a whole lot but its not like the iPod classic. Call quality and connection is not as reliable as Verizon's network.
Storm, G1 and iPhone are phones. Communication wise Storm is way better than the G1 and iPhone in every shape and form. Well... maybe typing is a bit better on the iPhone since you don't have to press down further like the Storm but Storm has Suretype which is pretty much T9. It saves time typing.
I'm more business oriented so that is why I prefer the Storm. iPhone is more for entertainment and the G1 is in between. I prefer efficiency above all.Last edited by sangwich; 04-11-09 at 11:57 PM.

I currently have a LG VX8700 so this will be my first smart phone. I will be using it more for internet and email/texting because I am at school. Sometimes its nice in class to be able to just "do something else."
I just saw the updates on the new os (.75 to .113) and it seems to fix a lot of the concerns I had before.
My next question: Is the application store cool? Are most apps free or cost money? i know you can buy them here on crackberry but I was just wondering about the actually program they have.
Thanks for all the help guys.04-12-09 12:36 AMLike 0 - Compared to the iPhone and the G1 is sucks! I guess its because its new. I dunno the Storm is my first BB so I can't really say.
I can say its worse than when G1 first came out. Now G1 has caught up a lot but still not as great as the iTunes App Store.
There aren't much programmer for BB.
Anything related to communication the Storm tops the other phones. If that is your main use stick with BlackBerries.04-12-09 12:51 AMLike 0
