I am a pediatric intensive care specialist and was working last night in the pediatric ICU. At 3:45 AM I was called to see a child out on the regular pediatric ward. She was a 3 week old who suddenly developed a very bizarre rhythm. Her BP was low and her heart rate was around 300. It was not the most common rapid rhythm we see and I thought I had the right diagnosis but I wanted to confirm it with her pediatric cardiologist. When I spoke with him I told him I would fax him her EKG. He said his fax machine was boken, so I took a couple of very close-up pictures (no more than 1-3 inches away) to make sure the fine detail was there and e-mailed them to him. He agreed with me that the diagnosis was correct and treatment was started. She is doing much better.
Thanks Storm!
