I've been seeing people bash on the long boot-up times of BBs, especially the Storm for some reason.

I'm just curious to how long it takes everyone's Storms to boot up. So put down your OS version and exactly how long it took.

    Very interesting...

Seems like from what you guys say, going to .151 can shave up to a full minute from the boot-up!

OS 5 is slow. Never timed it but its the slowest start up of any OS I've had thus far. I'm sure it will improve as the beta SW matures, but I'm diggin OS5 so its worth the wait IMO.

151 is the shiznit! I'm 2-3 minutes on it. 5.0 was faster, but I couldn't take the bugs and the 3rd Party App issues. And on 151 I don't have to reboot everyday since it handles memory so well.

Using both .151 and 5.0 on to different storms and the .151 is quicker then 5.0. Never really timed either one but I also don sit there and stare at the device to see how long it takes.

5.0 was the fastest os load time I've had yet, between 1-2min, jus to many bugs at this time to enjoy it. I'm on 151 now and its about 2:30min

The slowest I've ever seen was when I was on .75 @ 7 minutes and a couple seconds. Now it averages about 3 minutes give or take about 20 seconds.

Edit: Everyone should have start up races with other BB users. I once raced a curve 8330 that started up 3 times in the time it took my storm to boot once. Sad but true.

That's what I had in mind! Do a Storm Boot-Up Olympics and the winner gets a free app from the CrackBerry store!

I'm on 151 and just timed it yesterday at 3:05. I'd love to find out how the majority of people are in the 2-3 minute range. Does it have anything to do with size of contact db, message db, other dbs? Installed programs? etc?

A few seconds also comes from when you start timing it. I picked from when the screen went dark to when that security verification check was run.

I have a decent amount of hefty apps on my phone. My messages are both "full", in that it's rolling through my texts and e-mails (i.e. new message pushes last message on the out). And I have a pretty good list of contacts.

Anyone else able to shed some light on this?

I start timing from the second I put the battery in until it finishes security and media tests and is ready to use.
