Most household dust is human skin that has been shed and that appears to be the esc or back key or whatever apple calls it. So I think this would be somewhat normal considering iPhone users are always hitting that key.
Edit: after reading the article I have to ask... Would that button really get pushed that much in your pocket? I still think its dead skin cells rubbing off his thumb!

Point being made here is that even the iPhone is not as dust free as was reported on a former thread here. I beleive there was a post before saying that even the button on the iphone was sealed. Guess that stands corrected. The Iphone is not all that superior in the dust category.
