If your sending a VZW to VZW txt you have unlimited characters. To other carriers 160 max...

It's an SMS issue, not Verizon or Blackberry. Use email or messenger.... anything but SMS, they're all unlimited, no counting or per use charge.

If you must get through to someone who still *only* has texting, break it up.

use your email to send to:

    [email protected]

    OR

I have read that if you send an mms (without a picture) that there is no limitation on the number of characters

I would like a fix for this as well... My winMo phone would split them automatically and send two messages.

I believe this is a Carrier issue and not a phone issue.

It's not the Storm, it's the carrier. See my earlier post:

Verizon will allow over 160 characters. My old LG EnV would let you type out a novel and it would send it all in one batch as long as it was to another verizon customer. If you were sending over 160 to an off-network phone it would send it, then immediately send you a text message saying that your message was over 160 characters and may be broken up into multiple text's to the receiver.

It could be fixed, but I doubt it. Anyways, I found a good solution for me at least when dealing with the 160 limit. I really don't mind that I have to type two text messages when it is over the 160 limit, but the problem I had was that I usually can't finish the 2nd text fast enough before the person asks me why they only received part of a text.

Sooo.. back to my quick fix. If you just type to the 160 limit and then hit the BB button and Save Draft..just open up a new sms or reply (again) to the text msg and once again Save it as a Draft.. then you just go and open up the messages you typed and hit send on both of them (in the correct order) that way they receive both of the text messages quickly.. I know.. I know.. a lot of work, but being able to see the Drafts in the same screen as my text messages is very convenient to me!

Let me know if you have anymore questions about what I did because I know that I'm not very good at explaining things!
