i cant seem to figure out how to lock access to a particular application or function.

on my moto v9x i could require a password to access say... sms messages or the contact list without actually locking the phone.

i really need this type of functionality, can someone plz help?

Well someone might create an app for that. My suggestion in the interim is to lock you handset PERIOD. That way no matter what application you don't want someone to have access to, it will be irrelevant because they will not even be able to access your phone without your permission. Also suggest it in the apps section of crackberry & see if you get any takers.
