What part of the DC area? I'm in northen va, and getting wild fluctuations from -80 to -100 without even moving.

I live out in Sterling in the Cascades area and work in Reston. I've never had any sort of signal flunctuation. I also frequent the Tysons, Arlington, and NW DC area. No problems in signal strength.

Mine has weak signal a lot, but I live/work on a base and have a lot of interference...so I'm going to blame it on that.

I have noticed more frequent signal fluctuations with .83. Blackberries are usually known for great reception. I think that the Storm might be an exception.

right now at work i have my storm with 5 bars showing -80db and i have an 8830 from sprint (work) showing 5 bars and the signal is -83db. i have had not problem with my storm in NY and NJ, have had siganl with the storm when my sprint 8830 had no signal yes it was only 1 or 2 bars on the storm but it had signal

I'm sitting 2 feet from a Network Extender (mini-cellsite you can buy from VZN and put in your house) and I have -80dBm. That's it, it can't get any better than that.

Everyone is focusing on the signal strength but which radio code are you using? Some are better than others, do a search and donwload a different code. For example mine was fine since I bought it until .148 then it was horrible!! After I upgraded to .151 and now 5.0 the signal is great.

Everyone is focusing on the signal strength but which radio code are you using? Some are better than others, do a search and donwload a different code. For example mine was fine since I bought it until .148 then it was horrible!! After I upgraded to .151 and now 5.0 the signal is great.

How do you know which radio code you are using?
All I know is I donwloaded V5.0 in my laptop but the phone evethough I connected it to the laptop but it still says V4.7...
