I know it says it on the back of the phone....but i was looking at my friends iphone and it says 3G at the top...so i was wondering if it should say it on my screen anywhere?? any ideas?

Also, the torx screw tip worked wonders on my phone...i cant put it down now...just kinda sucks that thats what needed to be done to make it work better. but thanks to that dude.

Nope. 1XEV means you're on EVDO Rev. A.

No, 1EXV is the same as 3G

Not on Verizon, which is 3G but doesn't use the same notation as AT&T (hence the 3G on your friend's iphone). Your storm should say "1XEV", in caps.
