I have read every thread and gave up. I have not posted in a bit because I all but gave up on my Storm 1st generation. I literally run the 5 core apps that I have no choice but to run. I also run weather bug. That's it! I do a battery pull, and I have a consistent 6.3 Mb of memory left. That is pathetic. I can't run any apps because it grinds to a halt. I do a battery pull 2x daily for this issue. What can I do gto increase my memory? I have maybe 8 apps that I use infrequently, that's all. I only run the weather bug and the five cores. Somebody please say that there is an easy fix.
I have always had low memory (15-30 at boot) but now I don't boot above 6. I run the 5 cores and weatherbug, that's all. I am running the most current release of the OS.
I have the BB core apps and only a few 3rd party apps.
upgrade to 5.0.0.419 that will free up about 10MB right there. wipe the entire device and install it clean, don't go over all the junk you already have.
Then only restore your calendar entries, if you have any and your contacts. Start with a clean device, then see what you have for free memory.
If you are still on .328, I recommend upgrading to .797 or .724. Both are much better than .328
You cpould use Shrink A OS to get rid of unwanted stuff at that time.
If you don't want to reload the os. Back the device up with DM and then do a security Wipe. Options > Security > Security Wipe
It will blow out all the data and then you can restore what you absolutely need from the back up. Do the Advanced features in DM and only restore what you need.
On a BB you don't really get the memory back when you uninstall apps.
If its that much of a problem for you it would definitely be worth your time to update your Os to 797 after shrinking it. I have 16 relatively large 3rd party apps and a theme and boot at 17mb, drops to a stable 10mb but I still reboot every couple days. I'm running lyricidals .912 hybrid over 797
