I searched the forums for information and came across a name...BB Light. Now on google all I found was version 1.82, you need version 1.86 in order for the screen to light up on new emails and/or texts. I haven't tested all the other items on the list, but they're all pretty self explanatory. Enjoy and sorry if this already posted, but I searched for hours and I ended coming up with nothing.

*Oh yea it's OTA, so when in your browser on your storm, type in bb light 1.86 in the box and google selected. Once google loads scroll down to, for me it was, the third link. It'll say BB light with dark boxes throughout the link. Click on it, and scroll down, and voila! You can download it
straight from your phone*

I heard people say it didnt work and some say it did. Decided to install it and works great. Too bad theres no app to make the email/text show up on the screen automatically.

I loved this feature on my Voyager...whenever I got a text, the text would be displayed without my having to press any buttons.

it works with your system's backlight. my backlight timer is set to 20sec, so when i receive the text, screen lights up for 20sec

I don't have a storm but have a curve, and I bought a program called peek@who. works on email,mms,and sms you can find it right here on crackberry

See above. Considering the Storm would be replaced often with dust, screen, button problems, I would have to purchase it each time. You only get free lifetime upgrades if you have the same PIN

Does this only allow the entire screen to light up or does the SMS/MMS light show in a box then fade off after a few seconds??

Besides peekawho.... is there any other app that anyone knows of that allows the actual message to display for a second then fades out??

any ideas anyone? i dont want to download and somehow get charged later or waste my time if its just a trial version...

peekawho isn't free..

it doesn't charge you for the app .. but will stop working you will not pay untill you plop your credit card down. They dont just add it onto your verizon account or anything they wouldn't even have access to do that.
