when i turn unit on from standby mode it seems screen is not as bright as other times.what is the best setting to have screen bright

I like 30, but it really is a user preference. The lower you can tollerate, the better battery life you will have.

There is no best setting. Its your preference as to how bright or dim you like the screen.

Make sure you have AUTO DIMMING turned off. if it is already off, turn it ON, save it, exit. Go back in, turn it to OFF, save it and exit.

There also seems to be two types of Storms. One has a bright screen while the other has a dimmer screen. Some like the bright screen and some like the dim screen. One has washed out colors and the other doesnt. These screens have been discussed as well as pictures posted.

The dim screen set at 100 is probably the same as the bright screen set at 40.
