I'm in a extended network area in North Carolina, my Storm (my pearl also did this) is always searching for a Verizon Signal but never gets a strong enough one. It will go to Extended Network every now and then, is there a way I can set it to Extended Network only? Because when it is on E. Network I can call/text perfectly but it seems like it wants to search for a VZW signal all the time. Any help?

As far as I know no blackberry has ever been capable of forced roaming.

Yeah it's frustrating my other family members that have normal phones have perfect Extended Network service all the time.

Also my Data Services are on, and I'm on Network Technology: Global if that helps...


Anyone else have this problem when you're in the boonies?

i changed mine to 1XEV and at my cabin i get pretty good roaming service... i dont know if that helps

i use 1XEV all the time and it works a lot better.than global. u should all ways be using 1XEV NOT GLOBAL.global is if u go out of U.S.A ONLY LOL.

Changed it, still having trouble staying premaritally connected to extended network...

Just checked the VZW coverage map, it's perfect coverage in my city here in NC (northern NC), i don't see why I don't get service...

Did you try dialing *228 & hitting 2 to update your roaming capabilities?

I will do that tomorrow when I'm out of roam service, and hopefully when I come back into this town it will be updated.

Not true. I can force my Spring 8330 to roam in manage connections->Mobile Network Options-> Network selection Mode and choose ROAM only. Not sure if it will work on the storm.
