I wouldn�t call the plastic film that covered the screen a screen protector. I would definitely invest in some storm screen protection cover though. Those thing are great. I think three came in the pack but one is all you need. Even thought they say the screen hold up against scratches better safe that sorry.
It�s easier to remove the screen protection than replace the actual screen if anything happened.
Mine came off the minute I got the phone. I took a spill a few weeks ago during a call and the phone in my hand scrapped along some dirt. The screen was unharmed and you can see where the dirt scratched my keys.
I would get a screen protector but only for smudges. To clean the screen I use a wet microfiber and a dry one. That's it.
I feel better with a screen protector on my phone. I change it about every week and a half to two weeks. It gets so scratched up and that. But to answer your question you can take it off.
