    Hey all,

A buddy of mine just got shafted on Craigslist, buying a fully functioning (looks brand new) Blackberry, except for the fact that it has a bad ESN. Currently, he's using it as a paperweight.

Since everything in there is working - could I use it as parts for a broken BB with a clean ESN? At least that way it wouldn't be a total loss for him. I've done some mods on my blackberry's before, but nothing like this. Everything on his BB is new and functional.

    Any thoughts?

Well sure you can use the parts, but I'm not sure why you would want anything but maybe an extra battery or SD card for.

The only effective way to swap ESNs is to swap motherboards, which is pointless, since you can just use the other phone. Unlock the phone and use it on GSM service.

And then have a problem not getting a BIS/BES data connection.
