Problems with the Storm - UK on Vodafone
- Hi all, I've just received my Storm on Vodafone in the UK and I've got some problems.
1. The whole phone seems a bit slow, certainly much slower than my iPhone, is this usual or do I need a software update if there is such a thing.
2. The green 'answer call' key has to be pressed quite hard for it to register to enter phone mode or do dial a number once entered, is this an error?
3. Will there be a GSM version of the phone released without the horrible Vodafone software on it? I have a Nokia N95 once with vodafone software on it and it was dreadful, returned it and got a GSM version just with Nokias own software and it was excellent, will Blackberry do the same?
4. I can't seem to sync the phone to my Mac, I've tried using PocketMac, but it just comes up with an error.
Thanks in advance for your help.

- Well, I havn't had much chance to use it yet as I can't sync my data, but at the moment the iPhone is by far the better bet. Much quicker for sure. I'm sure this will change once I've got over these initial problems.
This is my first ever Blackberry, so I hoping some of you kind people can help me.11-17-08 11:14 AMLike 0 - Ive got this setup on the BES server now and we use the option to clear the memory when idle or in holster.
Since making this change the storm runs alot better. Not sure if you can set this option without BES though?
(We also removed the vodafone live software which helped)
Ive noticed the answer and end keys gt stuck when inserting into the holster. This hasnt happened to your green answer key has it?11-17-08 11:25 AMLike 0 - welcome to CB and good luck the phone isn't even here in Canada yet I can't help with your problems sorry.11-17-08 11:53 AMLike 0
- If you read the Vodafone UK eForums, you'll see they are busy working out the bugs, they expect it to be released in no longer than one month.
People are all busy reporting bugs and errors, it seems to be a bloodbath there but I think most things are minor issues, except for the problems reported with the software installation. This is solved because RIM released the software on their website now.11-17-08 12:20 PMLike 0 - Well after 24 hours I have to say I hate it, I just dont get the whole clickable screen it works very well for menus but typing is terrible and very slow, the 2g iphone is miles better but I would say this is just behind the 3g as this is also a pig imho. I can't wait to sell and to get another bold which was flawless for me.
The battery is shocking and have heard loads of people have have returned these in UK it has disapeered from the phones4u site which is rummoured to of been cause by the sheer volume of complaints and returns.
If blackberry could amend the software to disable the clickable touchscreen and just enable pure touch this has a chance cause the screen and speaker are fantastic, I had to try brickbreaker cause it's retro brilliance and every time you slide your finger from side to side the whole screen moves a couple of mm.
I hope you guys in the states get better software and build but I suspect in the coming weeks more and more of you will join me in my opinion. Feel free to ask any questions.11-17-08 12:22 PMLike 0 -
