When I receive an incoming call I press the answer button but just silence and cannot hold conversation . I press the speaker button , red sound symbol in front of the speaker vanishes and is replaced by a plain phone symbol ,then all is fine and conversation becomes possible
I am fairly new to the Blackberry and cannot fathom why i cannot answer directly just by pressing the answer button.Would be grateful for advice.

When you receive a call, the name or phone number of the caller appears in the middle of your screen.

To answer a call, touch and hold the name or phone number and drag it to the bottom of the screen.
To ignore a call, touch and hold the name or phone number and drag it to the top of the screen.
